The 2006 Digiterre Hedge Fund Regatta was a huge success and judging by the feedback received, was enjoyed by all race participants. The Rib and Yacht Charter Solutions Race Committee set excellent courses, combining a practice race on Thursday evening with three short "round-the-cans" on Friday and a final longer race on Saturday.   The social events went smoothly with a "gourmet" barbeque on Thursday night, followed by a five course gala dinner on Friday night.

All three days saw good conditions with fair winds and Saturday provided a classic Solent day with blue skies and sunshine for the final race. The winning team Emergent Asset Management skippered by David Murrin delivered three "bullets" during Friday's racing, almost ensuring them first place in the event. Only a failure to finish could have robbed them of victory and very nearly did. On race 4 they spent some ten minutes fixing a sail issue, but still managed a respectable third place in that race.

Our second Ribcraft 7.8m 'Griffin' was delivered in mid June joining her sister ship 'Pegasus' in a very busy summer charter programme including Treasure Hunts, corporate events and family days.

Griffin is a dual function boat allowing her to carry out both corporate and commercial work, this is achieved by being able to remove all the jockey seats behind the drivers and co-driver giving a clear load area of over 4 sq. m. Griffin has already carried out a number of commercial jobs including a survey of Portsmouth Harbour, bridge surveys and film work. Don't forget that the format for this years event has been changed, the practice race is now a points scoring race so consistency is the key to a good result. This years Friday theme is a Wild West Party beginning with Bucking Bronco Competition and shooting stalls, so get practicing your line dancing and don't forget the fancy dress.
